We had noted yesterday that the untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.two.one by Comex might not be launched prior to Xmas.
But iPhone Dev group is on track and has announced that it is preparing to release a new version of Redsn0w that implements the “backup plan” for iOS 4.2.1 untethered jailbreak around the Christmas weekend.
On the other hand, in advance of Redsn0w is launched to the public, it is shopping for testers to check out the newest model of Redsn0w. iPhone dev group has issued the subsequent statement:

Over the Christmas weekend we’ll be releasing a edition of redsn0w that implements the “backup plan” to the four.2.one untethered jailbreak. We’re seeking your guide to check this redsn0w and discover any bugs just before we do a basic release! (If you have an iPhone 3G, or an aged-bootrom ipt2g or iPhone 3GS, you previously have an untethered jailbreak! Just use the newest public redsn0w.) To keep issues manageable, this will be a Mac-only check program. We also request that any volunteers *NOT* need the ultrasn0w unlock (in situation points go quite incorrect). Suitable now, the “backup plan” requires that you have the 4.2b3 IPSW on yourMac, and that Cydia has your four.2b3 SHSH hashes. Please do not pirate that four.2b3 IPSW! (We’re also operating on a way that this approach could utilize to all these with four.1 IPSWs, but that’s not the 1st goal suitable now.)
